Police are asking for the public’s help tracking down a man who, about a month ago, fired 30 some rounds into an Oak Cliff house with children inside. Police add that they have recently connected the weapon used in this Cedar Crest neighborhood shooting to three other crimes.

By chance, none of the seven people inside the home that day were injured. Police now believe the shooter shot up the wrong target.

It happened Friday June 28 during the mid-morning hours. A white Nissan Altima or Maxima stopped near a home in the 900 block of Lambert Street at about 10:20.

Shooter from DPD Beat video

Surveillance video that can be viewed on DPD Beat shows a masked man exit the passenger seat and fire many times into the home with a .22 rifle. The suspect hopped back into the car which then fled the location.

Police have said there were seven people in the home, including young children, according to Fox 4’s televised Trackdown segment on the crime.

“We know that the suspect is a, appears to be a thin black male, but he’s wearing a ski mask so you can’t see his face too well,” Det. Alexander Zabriskie told the local news station. “He’s got a distinct design on the hoodie he looks like he’s wearing, so hopefully someone can recognize that and help us out.”

Investigators told the news station the shooter might have targeted the wrong house and that the shell casing matched three other shootings that are under investigation.

Anyone with information related to this incident should contact Detective A. Zabriskie at 469.849.3760  or alexander.zabriskie@dallaspolice.gov.
