You can hardly miss it. Over the weekend suit 712 went hot pink, but the business that claims “over 100 cereals from around the world” has been planning its debut for more than a year, according to an online fundraiser for the owner, Michael Goode, who reportedly became very ill just before the planned opening.

In response to the setback, Michael’s friends rallied to keep his cereal bar dreams alive.

“I’ve never seen someone want something more,” fundraiser organizer Kiana Hernandez notes. “He has taken all the steps from securing the business name, finding the perfect building, and website, and getting all the paperwork completed.”

Kiana goes on to write, “Michael is very passionate about serving people. He has a certain charisma and takes great care to make sure anybody that he comes in contact feels appreciated … Not doing this to become a wealthy business owner, he has always been the type of guy to offer help and pay it forward. Once he gets the business up and running he plans on giving proceeds to the local communities and charities too! Michael’s business is unique and a one-of-a-kind place to visit that will be sure to appeal to all ages.”

A May 30 update showed Michael with the keys to the building in hand, ready to get renovations underway. A July 3 update shows interior construction progressing. (If you’re anxious to get this cereal show on the road, friends of the business note, consider making a donation.)

In addition to its unprecedented array of cereals, the shop, which will share a 3,500-square foot building with Moonfire boutique, will offer 25 varieties of milk and alternatives, ice cream and milkshakes and 50-plus toppings (plus all those cereals), coffee and smoothie drinks, donuts and cakes, and just “a huge variety of goodies” in a “relaxing lounge with free wifi, unique game consoles, movies and boardgames,” according to the website.

The website also indicates that The Spelled Milk will donate to three charities each week 10% of sales of certain items. They will focus on local nonprofits linked to veterans, animals and food banks, according to the site.

Advocate editors have reached out to the owner for further details.

So keep your eyes peeled for more detailed feature next week.
