Oak Cliff non-profit Pasos for Oak Cliff is one of 81 recipients of the NBC Universal Local Impact Grants, awarding $2.475 million in total. The local non-profit will receive $25,000.

This effort to support non-profit organizations has been around for six years, but this is the first time the grant program is providing unrestricted funds to eligible nonprofits, according to NBC’s press release.

The grant was awarded to those organization who are helping to improve their local communities with “unique and innovative programming in three grant categories including Next Generation Storytellers, Youth Education & Empowerment, and Community Engagement.”

From New York and Chicago to California and Texas, and all in between, the grant program extended to all corners of the country.

The program has given more than $16 million in grants to 470 nonprofits in 11 communities that are served by NBC and Telemundo owned stations over the past six years.

Pasos For Oak Cliff tweeted that they are one of 81 organizations fostering a culture of equity and inclusion in the community. This award will garner the non-profit national recognition.
