Âme in Bishop Arts is closed for good, it seems. Last month, the Advocate referenced reporting from Brian Reinhart at DMagazine that stated the restaurant planned to reopen soon, however, flyers for a new establishment have since been put up on the store’s windows.

Hiring notices for Barons Creek Vineyard have been taped up at 418 Bishop Ave., and Michael Igo, regional manager for BCV, said the tasting room and wine lounge is aiming for a mid-October soft opening with a week of events for wine club members, residents, influencers and industry professionals.

Tasting room locations in McKinney and Granbury offer a 5-wine tasting experience for $21 a person.

Calls and emails to Âme’s parent company, the Nayeb Group, have gone unanswered, and the Âme instagram has been inactive and has not confirmed the permanent closure or reasons for closing.

Other openings and closings

An Instagram post made this morning announced CocoAndré will close their Bishop Arts storefront after 15 years of chocolatiering. The post said the closing will not happen immediately, and “exciting plans for the future” will be made soon.

The post said the quality chocolates that have gained nationwide attention will still be made and sold, even after the storefront closes for good.

Further down Bishop Avenue, De Novo Active closed at the start of September.

While the activewear store will continue business on their online store, the Bishop Arts store has closed so that founder Lawrence Woodson can “chase a few other dreams,” a statement on Instagram said.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years,” Woodson wrote on Instagram. “Don’t unfollow @denovoactive just yet, you’ll miss some big things coming soon.”

Replacing De Novo is M.K.T., a co-op that features a rotating array of products from artists and vendors.

M.K.T. started in the West Village during the pandemic and is hiring for the Bishop Arts store. A sign in the window says the store is expected to open this week.

Across from Wild Detectives, a sign advertising the Drift art gallery says the venue will open this month.

The home has been under renovation since 2017 to become a venue; inside the building will be an art gallery with artwork and furniture pieces, as well as a bar. The backyard of the site will serve as a music venue.

The Advocate will update as information on Drift becomes available.
