Pane Nostro will move into the “CocoAndré house” at 508 W. 7th Street in early 2024, managing partner Adalberto Lujan told the Advocate Wednesday.

“We originally wanted to open in Oak Cliff,” Lujan said. “Now is the time.”

While the restaurant plans to open in Bishop Arts in February 2024, work on the building could begin as early as December, Lujan said.

A listing for the $1.24 million storefront shows the house is off the market, and a social media post on CocoAndré’s Instagram said the chocolate shop will close “by the year’s end.”

“As we prepare to say goodbye to our casita by the year’s end and move forward in finding our new location, the upcoming weeks will be emotional,” the post states.

CocoAndré co-founder Cindy Pedraza did not confirm an official closing date for the beloved chocolate shop, but said the chocolate will be available at Elmwood’s Olmo Market until the buildout of a new location is ready.

“It will be like the ultimate pop-up,” Pedraza said.

The new CocoAndré location will be close to Bishop Arts, she said.

Following the September announcement of plans to close CocoAndré after 15 years in Bishop Arts, Pedraza said she hoped the store would pass hands to another family-owned business.

“When we left (our first location) it was the family from Encanto Pops that moved into that building. They were another Hispanic owned business, and it was family owned. So we were so  happy and relieved when they came in because that space was going to be cultivated and keep the same energy. I hope the same for this house,” Pedraza said.

A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Pane Nostro originally opened in Las Vegas.
