Cenzo’s Pizza & Deli is set to open for lunch and dinner service Dec. 19, a social media post announced. The opening comes after a year and a half of renovation work on the building.

“A 100 year old building has got some surprises that we didn’t know about but we are getting there,” shop owners wrote on Facebook in June.

The shop will be open Tuesday-Sunday, and the pizza menu is filled with familiar names such as the Rosemont (New Haven-style, mozzarella, parm) or the Winnetka (spicy Calabrese salami, Gorgonzola, arugula).

Aside from pizzas, hot and cold sandwiches, salads and appetizers will be offered.

The restaurant was made possible by a zoning case to allow a restaurant in the former Magnolia/Mobil filling station at 1700 W. 10th St. was approved in March 2022.

“Hell yes,” owners posted to announce the opening. “Big thanks to everyone who has been a part of this with us, we love this place, we hope you do too.”
