B-Side Coffee became the latest coffee shop to open in our neighborhood earlier this month, taking over the Downtown Elmwood space that previously housed Peaberry Coffee. The storefront, which is owned by Marsh, was already set up for a coffee shop, so she and husband Caleb Marsh decided to open the cozy, aesthetically pleasing space after Peaberry left in December.

“We are big into the community, and we know what our neighbors want and need. We want to provide a comfy space, welcoming, not intimidating, where people of all ages can come as they are,” Whitney told CultureMap Dallas.

The coffee selection is espresso from Big Bend Coffee Roasters out of Marfa, and B-Side is the only company’s only Dallas distributor currently. Desserts and snacks are brought in by Bisous Bisous Pâtisserie.

It’s clear an interior designer was involved in the shop’s outfitting. The couple combined the storefront with the neighboring space (don’t worry, Oak Cliff Yoga just moved to the other side of the coffee shop and is still open for business.) to add plenty of seating, workspaces and even a kid’s play area.

“We are all about family,” Whitney said. “First and foremost, we are parents, and we want to offer a space for families to relax, have a coffee while their kids play.”

Kid’s story times, board game nights and movie screenings are all on the programming agenda, employees of B-Side told the Advocate Tuesday morning.

B-Side is closed on Mondays, and hours vary slightly throughout the week.
