Passing Through Festival will feature 11 musical acts from noon to sundown on March 9 at Elmwood Farm.

“Last year, not that we treated it as a trial run, but we definitely thought it was successful enough to do again,” said Brody Price, a volunteer on the Elmwood Farm board and coordinator of many of the organizations musical events. “We are going bigger this year. We really had a lot more confidence with booking this one.”

Price referenced groups Teethe and Squirrel Flower as some of the “impressive” acts who signed on to the festival. Other acts include Westmoreland, Villagerrr, Hemlock and Price’s own band.

Presale tickets are available now for $7, and will be available at the gate for $12. Children receive free admission. The funds raised go towards paying the musical acts, Price said.

“The way we have it setup is no one (but the musicians) is making money off this festival … It’s a sweet and special thing,” he said.

Tacos by Chef David DeLeon, salads by Chef Cecilia Lopez and burgers from Herby’s Burgers will be on sale during the festival.

Last year, most neighbors opted to walk or bike to the festival due to limited parking, but Price said the proximity to a nearby DART station is also a good option.

“I had been going back and forth (on playing,) and then I was like ‘Of course we’re going to play, all of our friends are going to be there,'” Price said. “It’s just a truly dreamy day.”
