Hugo’s Seafood Bar will be a casual and cozy seafood joint with a small menu and a curated bar from the minds of chef Hugo Galvan and mixologist Hugo Osorio. Here is how the Hugos described the joint to CultureMap:

“The name Hugo’s Seafood Bar pretty much describes what we are shooting for: a really good seafood place with great service and great drinks,” Galvan said. “We’ll have a small menu with oysters from the East Coast, ceviches, and crudo. We’ll probably have five entrees at at the most. This place is small, it seats 28 people including the bar.”

“With this having a culinary focus, you need a good wine selection, and that’s where my focus is going to be – finding wines that pair with Hugo’s great menu,” Osorio said.

The intimate eatery will fill the 334 W. Davis St. store that has sat empty for nearly a year. Greek Cafe and Bakery closed last May after an almost 14-year-long stint in the neighborhood.

According to the proprietors, there is some understandable wear-and-tear on the building and remodeling will begin next month, with a tentative goal of a late summer open.
