The Moorland Family YMCA at Oak Cliff, Dallas County Health and Human Services, FreshQue Foundation, Neighborhood Heroes, and Tint School of Makeup & Cosmetology are partnering to host a Back-To-School supply giveaway this Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Approximately 700 children will have an opportunity to receive backpacks filled with school supplies at the Moorland Family YMCA. Mini makeovers will also be available for a select group of young girls, including haircuts, braids, and manicures. In addition, registered students will receive immunizations and COVID-19 shots through the Dallas Health and Human Services. Walmart gift cards will also be gifted to students so they can obtain additional supplies.
This year, the average family is projected to spend around $875 on supplies, according to the National Retail Federation. The event aims to help alleviate some of the financial burden on parents and guardians.
The Y’s mobile gaming truck, open pool, face painters, DJ, 360 photo booth, and food trucks will be accessible to registered families at no cost.
