The DSO, ‘The Last Picture Show’ and more things to do this weekend

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra performs at Cliff Temple Baptist Church starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The program is “Irish Tune from County Derry,” and tickets cost $19 for adults and $9 for students.

Award-winning author Beverly Jenkins appears at the Bishop Arts Theatre Center Saturday for a talk about “the triumphs and tragedies of iconic African-American female singers of the 19th century, like vocalist Sissieratta Jones, who overcame insurmountable odds.” Arrive early for a complimentary glass of Barefoot wine or bubbly. Tickets cost $18 in advance or $22 at the door.

V Market hosts a vegan pop-up at CocoAndre from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.

The Wild Detectives celebrates its three-year anniversary from 2 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturday.

Patina Bleu celebrates its grand opening from 7 p.m.- midnight Saturday.

The Texas Theatre shows “The Last Picture Show” at 5 p.m. Sunday as part of its Heart of Texas series.
