The Coombs Creek Trail extension from Kessler Parkway to Plymouth is under construction.
The $850,000 trail extension, paid for with 2006 bond funds, extended the trail from the tennis courts on Kessler Parkway to Colorado. On the north side of Colorado, the sidewalks are being widened to 8 feet as an extension of the trail.
The extension, almost a mile, takes the trail up the hill to Plymouth, then crosses the street and continues along Stevens Park Golf Course, where there previously was no sidewalk at all, to Annie L. Stevens Park.
When completed, the trail will connect Kessler Park and Stevens Park, from near Beckley to near Hampton.
