Hit-and-run driver seriously injures disabled man

A driver struck and seriously injured a man in a wheelchair on 12th Street Wednesday night.

Joey Salas, 42, is a well-known figure in Oak Cliff. He was leaving La Calle Doce Wednesday night, when the driver of a pickup hit him and fled the scene, according to KTVT. Witnesses say it was a white Ford F150 with LED lights.

Both of Salas’ legs were crushed.

Salas, who has cerebral palsy, finished college last year and works at Dallas Can Academy.

His family is accepting donations for his care and recovery through this Go Fund Me page.
