J.T. Williams was convicted and sentenced Monday in the shooting of 30-year-old Albert Brown.

They were arguing in a car at Pecan Grove Park around 1 a.m. on July 15, 2016 when Williams shot Brown in the head. He then pushed his friend’s body out of the car.

Williams’ former girlfriend witnessed the shooting, and she testified that Williams forced her to help him clean up the car and wouldn’t let her out of his sight.

Williams fled to Nachitoches, Louisiana, where he was arrested after a standoff with local police.

Williams initially tried to pin the murder on his girlfriend and later said the shooting was in self defense.
