The news came Friday that Dallas County was considering closing off a couple of Dallas streets to car traffic and converting them to urban parks during the coronavirus crisis.

This plan was pitched as a way to deal with overcrowded trails, and after the Dallas Observer mentioned a plan to close part of Turtle Creek Boulevard and Seventh Street near the Better Block headquarters on West Davis, neighbors had questions. One Facebook post had about 250 comments.

City Councilman Chad West said Better Block’s plan for a “living street” demonstration could be an opportunity to test ways of making Seventh Street more parklike.

In the end, the Better Block backed off the idea.
