I hope that all of you have had a safe and wonderful start to the new year. Below you’ll find this month’s summary and an update from our board meeting:
Dallas ISD District 7 Monthly Updates
- DISD Superintendent, Dr. Hinojosa, Announces Resignation to be Effective December 31, 2022: This month, the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees formally accepted Dr. Hinojosa’s resignation. I am deeply thankful for Dr. Hinojosa’s steady hand and thoughtful leadership as Dallas ISD’s superintendent over these last six years. He’s helped navigate crisis after crisis with grace and determination and set Dallas ISD on an excellent path forward. The board will complete a search and hiring process this spring to determine the best candidate to fill Dr. Hinojosa’s shoes.
- Dallas ISD Holding Special Education Parent Symposiums this Spring: Over the course of this spring, Dallas ISD will be holding parent symposiums for special education students. The goal of these symposiums is to build stronger relationships with parents and provide additional resources as needed. You can sign up here to attend.
- Announcing DISD’s New, Fully Virtual iLearn Academy opening in Fall 2022: While we know that virtual school doesn’t work for all students, there are students and families who thrived in the virtual learning environment. As such, Dallas ISD will be opening its first, fully virtual academy for families who wish to opt in next year for third through ninth grade. If this is of interest to you or someone you know, the application can be found at: dallasisd.org/choosedallasisd.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have thoughts, ideas, questions, concerns, or simply want to say hello!
