The City of Dallas office of Planning and Urban Design received 295 responses to a community survey about the plan, which affects a 5-mile area of Oak Cliff.

The planning department compiled community feedback in this report.

Survey results and community meetings found that neighbors generally have concerns about gentrification and displacement, as well as redevelopment that is out of character for the neighborhood.

Crime is a top concern for neighbors, as well as historic preservation, parking and attracting new retail.

The report also notes neighbors’ distaste for the draft plan’s “recommendations to prohibit auto-centric businesses, but also numerous comments in support of recommendations to prevent new businesses from entering these areas.”

One neighborhood, North Cliff, gave no negative feedback to the plan, the report states.

Here’s a recap of neighbors’ comments regarding the West Davis Corridor, Elmwood, the Jimtown area, Tyler-Vernon, Hampton Station and Hampton/Clarendon.

The meeting on Wednesday, June 1 is from 6-8 p.m. on Webex. Find the link to join near the bottom of this page.
