The weather forecast for the upcoming long weekend is perfect spring weather (with no rain, as of now) so if you are looking for a chance to get out of the house and avoid spring cleaning, the Advocate has you covered.

Here are three ways to celebrate the Easter holiday in and around our neighborhood this weekend.

Dallas Parks Egg-Citing Egg Hunt

Games, prizes and refreshments are just some of the added perks to the parks department Egg Hunts that will take place this Saturday.

For our neighborhood, Beckley Saner Recreation Center will be where it’s Hoppin’ on April 8.

Starting at 10:00 a.m., festivities will run into the early afternoon. Kids as old as 12 will be split into age groups for 15 minute hunts.

21+ Easter Egg Hunt

For anyone dye-ing to take a trip to the Cedars,  a 21+ Adult Egg Hunt will be held on Thursday, April 6 at Old City Park. The hunt begins at 6:30 p.m. but the party will be kept alive with games and music until 8:00 p.m.

Eggs filled with tickets for Four Corners beer and full sized candy bars will be scattered throughout the course, and if you look really hard you may even find an alcoholic beverage or two.

The event is BYOBB (Bring Your Own Basket and Beer) and while $10 tickets can be bought at the gate, we recommend you reserve your spot.

City Wide Kite Fest

If you would like to channel your inner Mary Poppins, you can go fly a kite at Beckley Saner Recreation Center on April 8.

Starting at 10 a.m., Dallas is hosting a Kite Festival at various parks throughout the city.

Participants are encouraged to purchase a kite, bring their own or design a kite using provided materials for as long as supplies last. The fun will go until noon and attendance is free.
